Z3SPQDF38BND HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It is a virus that mainly targets one's white blood cells or T cells which is needed by the immune system to function properly. As these white blood cells in the body become smaller in number, your immune system will not be able to fight off diseases effectively. As can be seen by many HIV carriers or AIDS patients, they are very sickly and will usually have complications in their health condition.

One must also understand that HIV may be carried on by an individual for many years without knowing he has one. When HIV has however made sufficient damage to the immune system he will likely develop AIDS.

HIV will not be spread however by merely touching, hugging or casual kiss. Using the same utensils or sitting in toilet seat or drinking from a water fountain will not cause this as well. It is through transfusion of infected blood that one catches HIV.

HIV is mainly transmitted in three ways by sex, sharing needles and being exposed to it by birth. Whether sex be vaginal, anal or oral one is likely to get the virus if it is an unprotected sex. Sharing needles and syringes will be a sure way as well of getting the virus. This is more dangerous for those who do drugs and steroids. Then there is the risk of getting HIV during birth or breastfeeding.

There are ways to prevent catching HIV and avoid eventually having AIDS. First is to abstain from having sex. Ideally, you should only have sex with another if you are exclusive with her or him and you know the other's health condition with regards to STDs. You will also limit your chances of acquiring HIV if you limit yourself to a single partner. Having multiple sex partners especially unprotected ones will be too risky for you.

To be safe, do not have sex when you are drunk. You will have the tendency to have unprotected sex being in this state. And even better, do not drink too much of alcohol and do not do drugs. This will be your safest bet against catching HIV.

It would also be best if you get tested for HIV. This ensures you know your current health status and so that you will not be infecting others with it. You should be responsible enough in handling this and take measures in dealing with it.

So have yourself checked regularly of HIV like in your annual medical check-up with your doctor. One way in testing for HIV will be to look if your blood has antibodies instead of directly looking for the presence of the virus itself. Tests of this kind may also involve collecting specimens from urine and oral fluids.

Always remember the ABCs of fighting HIV - A for abstinence of sex, drugs and alcohol, B for being faithful to your partner, and C for being careful with your health; and for those who are sexually active, C can always mean using condoms for protected sex.

Indeed, it is not easy to have HIV or AIDS. Aside from having a deteriorating health condition, there are others who will look down at you. Perceptions and judgments will be passed on you by many. It is advisable however for one to be strong about his condition and status and not be affected by what others are thinking.

If you will be allowing such negative thoughts to affect you, the more it will be bad for your health. Remember that your mind is a powerful thing be always careful with your thoughts and have a positive mental attitude. Your mental health will affect your physical health as well. So if you have HIV or AIDS, accept your current state of health and continue to live life with a positive frame of mind while you are medicating yourself. For one who is not HIV infected, keep it that way by remembering the ABCs of fighting HIV.

Your eyes give you the vision to appreciate the wonderful and beautiful things around. With one's eyesight, one is able to see the world as it truly is. So can you just imagine what it feels like to lose your sight? One may not have to deal with such a vision problem, but others already have this and will have to find a way to make their vision a little better.

Your eye has a lens that becomes cloudy a sign that you may have cataract. Cataract prevents you from seeing clearly and you may have to make do with a blurry vision if you choose not to address this surgically. There are some cataracts that may not be a nuisance in these cases, one may not have to go through surgery.

If yours is a minor degree, it may help to just use eyeglasses, anti-glares, proper lighting during reading and the like. Such will help with the vision problem you may have. But if yours should be a case wherein you cannot see clearly anymore, then your only option may be to go for surgery.

An eye problem as cataract usually comes about during one's later years. At around middle age, some might not know it but they may just have cataracts starting to form in their eyes. Cataracts develop slowly and may not usually pose a problem for your vision right there and then.

As one ages, it has been found that the eyes' lenses degrade. The lens becomes thicker and less transparent. The lens' composition changes from one that is clear, to one that will interfere with the light passing through. The protein fibers will change in structure affecting one's vision. Free radicals compound the effect, making it worse for your vision. This is why smoking and UV radiation should be avoided.

Cataracts are not painful so if you have redness, aching or itching in your eye, it may be a sign of another eye disorder. Only if yours is an overripe cataract one that is completely white you may, in this case, feel some pain and headache. In such a case, you have to refer to your ophthalmologist and consult for possible removal.

Cataracts are usually related to aging yet other causes include previous injury to the eye, exposure to radiation & sunlight, having a family history of cataracts and diabetes. With these, you are better off taking care of your eyes and your health in general so that developing cataracts will be far from probable for your case.

Cataracts may fall under one of three types. A nuclear cataract appears in the middle of the lens. Vision at nighttime will be a problem for this type, thus activities as driving at night should be avoided. Then we have a cortical cataract, which starts at the outer edge of the lens. In time, this will reach the center portion and will be a problem for you in terms of loss of contrast. Then there is subcapsular cataract, which starts as an opaque area under the capsule of your lens. This type will affect your reading vision and you will have problems with glare.

Detection of cataracts may include visual acuity test, retinal examination and slit-lamp examination. Such tests will confirm whether you have a cataract or whether yours is a case of another eye disease. This is necessary so that you will know how to proceed and be able to discuss treatment options with your eye doctor.

For prevention of cataracts or any eye disease for that matter requires that you become conscious of its causes. It requires that you generally take care of your body as some illnesses as diabetes will complicate things. Exposure to smoke & sunlight should be eliminated if not, kept to a minimum.

Our body needs energy to move about and function well in the course of our daily living. We get our energy from the food we eat. Our body will break down what we eat especially those that fall into the carbohydrates group - into sugar. This sugar or glucose will be carried by the blood into the many cells in the body. But here is the catch it needs insulin so that the cells will allow glucose to enter into them.

For those who may already have learned something about diabetes, the word insulin is already familiar to them. Insulin plays a vital role for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood. It is the pancreas that produces this insulin. Yet, while your pancreas may be functioning well, there is still a chance that your glucose levels remain high a condition termed as insulin resistance.

One may also have already heard of the types of diabetes. There is Type 1 Diabetes and there is Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes happens when the immune system of the body attacks the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. This will result to a lesser insulin production or at worse, no insulin at all. This is why you must have known a diabetes patient who takes insulin shots. This is necessary for one with type 1 diabetes and this insulin shots will be taken as often as required. This type of diabetes needs special attention, as there are cases wherein the patient will experience a life-threatening diabetic coma. It is critical that the patient takes insulin as prescribed by his or her physician.

Type 2 diabetes is probably the most common than type of diabetes. Most with this type are overweight, in his later years, with a family history of such health condition and are physically inactive. This is where the insulin resistance condition fits in. The pancreas is able to produce enough insulin yet the body is not able to effectively and efficiently use it. Because of this, the blood will have high glucose levels.

One with diabetes will experience increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision and slow healing of wounds. This is why having diabetes is feared by many and what is more, is that diabetes is known to complicate your other health conditions as high blood; many diabetes patients have had a stroke. Diabetes may also lead to blindness, nerve damage and kidney failure. This health condition really deserves your attention and should alert you to address this well.

A person with diabetes should closely monitor his blood sugar levels making sure it neither drops too low nor shoots up way too high. When the blood sugar levels are too low, one is said to be in a condition referred to as hypoglycemia. If the blood sugar levels are very high, the condition is termed as hyperglycemia.

It is important that a person with diabetes should not only be concerned with blood sugar levels but in his overall health as well. Blood pressure and cholesterol levels should be monitored as well. One must be disciplined enough to make some lifestyle changes along with the medications prescribed by the doctor.

Eating healthy should be a main priority avoiding too much carbohydrates in the diet. Carbohydrates in the diet should come mainly from fruits and vegetables. Junk foods and sweets should be avoided. A balanced and nutritious diet is important.

Also, one must subscribe to an active lifestyle. This improves blood circulation and your general state of health. It will stabilize your mood and will leave you with a feeling of more energy throughout the day. It will also keep you fit and will allow you to use those excess calories.

Deal with your diabetes effectively and work with your doctor towards your optimum health given your condition. More than the medication you take, should be the discipline to take on a healthier lifestyle to improve your condition.
